The obverse of the coin features a motif of a steam locomotive, above which is a drawing of the railway line between Prague and Olomouc, designed by Jan Perner. Along the upper edge of the coin is the inscription "SEVERNÍ STÁTNÍ DRÁHA" (Northern State Railway) in a frame.
Along the bottom edge of the coin is the name of the state "ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA". The denomination with the currency abbreviation "200 Kč" is above the name of the state. The Czech Mint mark, consisting of a composition of the letters "Č" and "M", is along the upper right edge of the coin after the word "DRÁHA".
The reverse of the two-hundred-crown coin features a portrait of Jan Perner. Along the left edge of the coin is the inscription "JAN PERNER" and along the right edge are the years "1815" and "2015". Both the inscriptions and the years are delimited by dots at the beginning and at the end.
Above the collar on the portrait are the initials of the coin's designer, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, consisting of the conjoined letters "FZ".
