The obverse of the coin features fragments of the title pages of newspapers published by Karel Havlíček Borovský and the title of one of his literary works. Along the upper edge of the coin is the inscription "ČESKÁ REPUBLIKA" in the legend, and along the left edge is the denomination with the currency abbreviation "200 Kč".
The Czech Mint mark, consisting of the letters "Č" and "M", is positioned along the lower right edge of the coin.
The reverse of the coin features a portrait of Karel Havlíček Borovský. Around the circumference of the coin, along the right edge in the legend is the inscription "KAREL HAVLÍČEK BOROVSKÝ" and along the left edge the text "1821 - 2021".
The initials of the coin's designer, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, consisting of a composition of the letters "F" and "Z", are located to the right of the text "1821".
